Iran's government led by a religious regime has frequently blamed the protests as the work of foreign interference. Iran's intelligence ministry confirmed the arrest of 9 foreign nationals claiming these arrests were in connection with recent violent protests after the death of Mahsa Amini.

According to the Iranian intelligence ministry, the arrested citizens belong to European countries Germany, Poland, Italy, France, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

The ministry said that citizens had been detained "during the violent protests or while plotting to instigate the riots being in the background."

Iranian women began to protest three weeks ago, against the death of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini. She had been arrested by Iran's morality police for allegedly wearing the mandatory Islamic headscarf too loosely.

Iranian authorities have continuously been painting the outbreak of public anger as a plot instigated by foreign agents, while the Protesters especially the women dominating the protests have rejected these claims. Amini's family alleged that she was beaten to death during detention, while government officials have denied the claim of the family and declared that she has died of a heart attack.

 Iran
has repeatedly declared the hijaab protest as riots sponsored by the west, but according to September 30 report by human rights watchdog Amnesty International on Friday, declared the protest pro-people and stressed the Iranian authorities to avoid the use of force upon protestors. According to the report, the leaked government documents called on security forces to "severely confront" the protesters.

Amnesty International said that,

The Iranian authorities knowingly decided to harm or kill people who took to the streets to express their anger at decades of repression and injustice.

Amnesty International report also said that the Iran government crackdown against the protestors has left 52 people dead and hundreds of them injured since the protests began.
