First Saudi woman to go to space next year
The Space
Commission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced its first astronaut program
to send astronauts to space. This is a giant leap for the Saudi kingdom in space
research as it announced to send the first
Saudi woman to space in 2023.
Axiom Space, an American company that is building the first-ever commercial space station joined hands with the Saudi Space Commission(SSC) and announced their plan to fly two Saudi astronauts to space, including the first female Saudi astronaut.
This
cooperation was result of several meetings of the Saudi Space Commission under the leadership of Mohammed bin Saud al-Tamimi the CEO of the Commission at the International Astronautical Congress in Paris
that finally led to the signing of an agreement of cooperation with Axiom
Space, a Commercial Space Company from the U.S.A.
According to the official website of the Saudi Space Commission, Saudi Arabia will reveal its first National Space Strategy in a few months.
